Renting a Car in Hawaii
Don’t waste a minute of your valuable vacation time in paradise. Start making those memories now – rent the car of your choice and enjoy!
Each island is a unique travel adventure that can only be explored with your own vehicle. Why come all the way to Hawaii and not experience all of the different landscapes our Islands have to offer?
On Oahu, take the drive around the Eastern side of the island via Kamehameha Highway (Route 830) to the fabled North Shore. During winter months, Oahu’s North Shore has some of the worlds biggest waves, and hosts major surfing competitions. There are also several famous food trucks on the North Shore in Haleiwa Town that are a must-try for visitors.
Maui’s Road to Hana is an all-day excursion that has stunning ocean views and dozens of hairpin turns. Stop along the way for a picnic lunch that can be purchased at the Kuau Store on your way out, or to take a look at some of the waterfalls along the way. This long drive gives credence to the notion that it’s the journey, not the destination that matters.
Hawaii Island is known as the Big Island for a reason: it’s big! While visitors may be tempted to hoof it on smaller Islands, the Big Island definitely requires a car. How else would you be able to get to the snow on Mauna Kea in the winter? To see volcanoes, rain forests and a black sand beach, you’ll certainly need personal transportation.
Kauai, the Garden Island, is a lush oasis in the Pacific. Each side of Kauai offers a different set of marvels that need to be seen, such as Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, or Hanakapiai Falls outside of Hanalei.
No matter the Island, don’t sell yourself short on this vacation by opting out of renting a car. The Islands open up with possibility when you rent a vehicle.
